New Beginnings (Tuesdays with Dorie Baking Chez Moi: Palets de Dames, Lille Style)

Tuesdays with Dorie has expanded.

Not in the "I just finished my Thanksgiving dinner and I can't move for three hours" kind of way, but in the "my favorite shopping center just opened up three new stores that I love" kind of way.

Today marks the inaugural recipe of Tuesdays with Dorie: Baking Chez Moi... (aka TWD 3.0).

Dorie Greenspan's long awaited tome, Baking Chez Moi, hit the shelves October 28th. Fans of Dorie's encouraging style and never-ending sweet tooth will be thrilled with her latest work.

Our journey begins with Palets de Dames, Lille Style - an addictive little iced cake-like cookie that will keep your hands in the cookie jar. Like most of Dorie's recipes, these give off the aura of being more difficult to pull off than they actually are. Waiting for the dough to chill almost felt like the hardest part of making these mini treats...

Next up is the cranberry crackle tart, which sounds like it might make a perfect addition to the holiday dessert buffet.

This post participates in Tuesdays with Dorie - the group is about half way through Baking with Julia and just starting Baking Chez Moi. (which means that it is a perfect time to pick up a copy of either book and join in on the fun).  The recipe for Palets de Dames can be found here.

  10. Very happy we are all together for this new book from Dorie. Also happy
that we will only bake twice a month because looking at all these delicious
recipes, I don't think I could handle more than that.

  11. So glad to be on this adventure with you. My fingers are crossed I can survive the months when we do both AMFT and BCM- I am not as disciplined as you :) If my energy wanes I will just need to knock out more of these little yummies and put another pot of coffee on....

  12. you are right about the recipes-they look like work but the way Dorie writes them, they are easy to follow. Moving is so much fun! We went nearly 700 miles this time, and that gas stove I had in TN came with me; it is waiting to be hooked up as soon as the gas lines are installed!

  13. This is going to be fun and fattening:) I've already eaten way too many cookies even after giving away half of them. I need to find someone to take the rest or I'll eat them too!

  15. Cher, your description of the expansion of the project - loved it! I feel the same way (and I'm a little intimidated by the sheer number of comments/posts). But this is fun, and totally worth it to be part of the group! These were tasty!

  31. Perfect to eat these at the computer, no crumbs! And so nice and light. I made these for the FFWD birthday celebration a few weeks ago, so not repeating this week. I'll be an occasional baker with BCM.
